KPS Parents, Students, and Staff,
We just completed a recent weather webinar and the meteorologists feel confident in their forecast predictions for snow, extreme cold temperatures, and storm timing. Armed with this information, KPS will follow this schedule for students and staff this week:
Monday - Normal school start time and daily schedule.
The forecast is called for 1-2 inches of dry fluffy snow with wind chills in the -10 to -15 degree range.
- We believe we will be able to clean all parking lots and areas for a regular day of school.
- Buildings will be open by 7:15 to receive students. Parents, please do not drop students off before we open as the temperatures will be very cold.
- We will have a regular day of school and parent-teacher conferences will be 4:00-6:00 across the district (K-12).
- All practices will be completed no later than 6:00.
- Snow is not supposed to start in the area until 6:00 p.m. or after so that should allow everyone to get home safely.
Tuesday - KPS District Closed - No school for students or staff, and all activities and practices are canceled.
- The forecast is calling for snow beginning on Monday night around 6:00 and continuing throughout the night with 3-5 additional inches of snow expected (on top of what we have and will receive tonight). The wind chills will be -25 to -35 degrees as well.
Wednesday - No school for students (already planned).
- Staff will report at regular time
- We will conduct parent-teacher conferences from 9:00-6:00 across the district.
- All practices will be completed by 6:00 to allow our student-athletes to get home before dark.
Thursday and Friday - No school for students and staff (already scheduled).
I appreciate everyone's flexibility with the changes to our schedule this week and I hope the additional time will allow parents and families to adjust their schedules and plans as needed. Additionally, I hope everyone has some time to recharge their batteries (later) this week and people stay safe and warm! It does look like warmer weather will greet us in about a week!
Best wishes,
Jason Mundorf
